What's your first memory of Bisquick and what's your favorite way to use it?

My mom made dumplings all the time when we were growing up, probably because it was a dollar stretcher for the food budget. We loved the dumplings along with drop biscuits and pancakes she also made with little effort.

My first Bisquick memory is Drop Biscuits that my mother made.  I still make them from time to time.

Dumplings, yes, my first memory of Bisquick is the dumplings. My Mom made dumplings from scratch, I hated them..then I was invited to dinner at a friends home and she was serving chicken and dumplings. To be polite I took the serving that she handed me and it was LOVE at first bite... This has been a favorite comfort food for about 40 years...

My earliest memories were just two years ago! As a new mom, (tired and suddenly without a lot of time) I used bisquick for quick and easy breakfast biscuits and pancakes.  Our favorite, though, became the cheese / garlic biscuits .. quick and easy side for our pasta nights!

THanks to everyone for sharing their memories -- I had no idea that Bisquick was so versatile!  I'm going to have to check out the online recipes for Bisquick!

I remember standing on a chair helping my mom make Dumplings from Bisquick & being told, now dont over-mix it.. you want them to be fluffy & light! She'd cover the mixture with a cotton dish towel for about 10 minutes to let it rise. I  am never without Bisquick in my cubboards!!.

Linda, You are probably over mixing the dough..Use a fork & just mix to moisten all the mixture. Then, let it sit covered for about 10 minutes, make aure the stew is boiling when you drop them in. On the box is says cook 10 min. un-covered then 10 min. cover..i do not cover mine..Thats when i have found mine to be gummy. Hope this helps! Des54

My Mom used Bisquick very often................dumplings on top of stew, coffee cakes, her version of "pizza" , and of course, pancakes.  I still use Bisquick a lot- a definite comfort food!

I have to agree with Patty at Betty Crocker. Back in the day a dollar, a dollar whent a long way. It was worth more then. I think it is worth 10 cents if that today.

This is the honest truth.  I am in my late 40's and my mom use to make biscuits for thanksgiving and special occations using bisquick. I swear i made my first cake ever using bisquick when i was about 9 years old.  I come from a big family. We are  6 children and we were poor. My mom divorced and we went through hard times but i swear one of my sweet memories was making a cake for my brothers ans sisters.  I am the oldest. The smiles on our face and the joy of eating the coffee cake even thought we didn't drink coffee. Til this day i am remembered by my brothers and sisters are the times i made cakes using bisquick.  Oh we couldn't afford frosting. The memories of cold winter nights were warmed up by making cakes using bisquicks. So gee it must be over 35 yrears since i have been using bisquick.  Now i proudly make those same coffee cakes for my 2 sons.

My mom made the drop biscuits quite often and I loved them.  Today, I use Bisquick to make biscuits, pancakes, waffles and my favorite, the impossibly easy chesseburger pie.

My mother started out with the impossible cheeseburger pie. I loved it when I was a kid, I make it and love it now and because it is so flexible youc an add bacon, or othe types of chesse, we have turned it into breakfast by using sausage, it is just yummy and warm and reminds me of home and my family.

My first memory of using bisquick was when I was a new bride of 18 and was visiting a friend who was preparing dinner for her family, I watched her make the most wonderful chicken and dumplings, I had always seen my Grandmother make dough and roll them out and cut, this was so easy and has been a favorite for 28 year's!!! And has never failed me one time, everyone loves my chicken breast Dumpling., I do not have a favortie, the pancake mix is wonderful my husband loves to make pancakes in the jug thats his Sunday morning thing is to cook me pancakes and bacon,  "Got to love a man that will do that"

Hi,

My first time I had Bisquick is when I was a teen I believe. Mom didn't have any flour to make biscuits and gravy. So she used it like flour and made the best biscuits we ever had.. another time that is my all time favorite is when my Ex-mother-in-law made what she calls is her Poorboy Dish. Is do the biscuit recipe plus add 1/2 cup more milk. Put the left over chilli in a 9x13 pan.Pour biscuit mix around on top of the chilli..(thin layer in the center so it will get done evenly) Bak it about 15-20 minutes on 350 degree. I really thought she was crazy but it turned out really good..

I cook with Bisquick in different ways now.... not just for biscuits anymore..
