Homemade Valentines
by Heidi at Betty Crocker  2/13/2009 3:24:00 PM

Last weekend I helped my sister, Carrie, cut out 69 hearts to make valentines for her daughter Morgan to give away at school today. Carrie used three hearts per valentine and stuck a Dum-Dum pop in the middle. Here they are assembled:

Pretty cute, eh?
Happy Valentine’s Day.

I'd like directions also. I still remember when I was a kid trying not to find the sappy ones for the boys in my class. How do you tell a boy be mine in the 3rd grade....ugh. I would LOVE to do this. Does she just glue them, or would she just hole punch? Please post how they are put together. They look like fun, but work.

Hi all,

Glad you like the valentines. I wish I could take credit for them but they were all my sister's idea.

We used thick stock paper--the kind you get at scrapbooking stores. We folded the paper over and then cut half a heart shape along the crease so that when unfolded, it was a perfectly shaped heart. (Because the hearts have a crease down the middle, they look more flower-like.)

Then Carrie held cut one hole at the bottom of each heart using a hole punch so the Dum-Dum would fit. Morgan wrote on the hearts before Carrie assembled the valentine.

They really weren't hard to make. Just took a little time to cut out 69 hearts, but there were two of us so it went fast.
