Food Finds on Vacation or Staycation

Whether I am on vacation or enjoying a Stay-cation, I love to explore good food. For me, good food is not necessarily fancy food, but food that has a reputation for being exceptional in some way.  I always seem to pay attention to “best of” lists when it comes to food.  A while back there was a list of America’s best hamburgers in GQ magazine that listed the hamburgers at Le Tub in Florida as the very best.  A list from Oprah Winfrey echoed the sentiment.  That was it.  On our next visit to Florida, we had to go.  Here are the pictures from our hamburger adventure:...

Food Fun for Kids at Museums

A friend and her little ones are members of their local children’s museum in Arizona.  They love to go there and participate in events of all kinds, including hands-on food projects.  They are coming to visit me soon, and I cannot wait to take them to my favorite food-related museum, the Mill City Museum in Minneapolis.  Calling itself “the best smelling museum ever created,” the actual experience corroborates their claim.  While the history of flour milling in the Midwest may not seem like a riveting topic, it is because it connects history, geography and food.  Why does it smell so goo...
