I love cookies. I really do. It is a simple pleasure, and one I like to indulge. I like to experiment and find new recipes. I especially like to get cookies that I hear others sing high praise for. The Minnesota State Fair has a beloved cookie vendor called Sweet Martha's that people love. I heard about it from just about everyone I met when I moved to Minnesota a couple summers ago. I even heard about it on the message boards at Chow.com, a foodie website where users share food experiences. My husband was set on getting some Sweet Martha's cookies, which, I should add, are sold in buckets....

So I baked a batch of chocolate chip cookies over the weekend. I must admit they lived up to all the hype.
But do you know what’s even more fun than making chocolate chip cookies? Giving them away! My nieces and neighbors were very appreciative....

My eating habits these days have been absolutely dismal. I’ve been surviving on my tried-and-true tortilla pizzas. I ate one almost every night this week. Embarrassing. Plus, I’ve been pinching pennies in order to save up for a new roof (a home improvement project that definitely does NOT fall in the “fun” category) so I’ve been trying to use ingredients I have on hand in my pantry and fridge. BTW: Anyone have a recipe that calls for a York Peppermint Pattie and Pepsi?
