Cooking for a Cause—Friends Who Need a Meal

Every now and then, I’m asked to bring a meal to a neighbor who recently had surgery or to a young couple who has just had a baby or to a family from our church needing help. I like helping out this way because whenever I prepare a meal for someone else, I double the recipe so it becomes dinner for us too. For this purpose, I developed an easy recipe for Italian Sausage Filled Pasta Shells—with only five ingredients. This Recipe is for the Birds

We started out on the 3 1/2-hour drive to our cabin in northern Wisconsin at 7:00am on New Year’s Eve Day.  It had snowed the night before and so the roads were snow packed and icy. If that wasn’t bad enough it was very cold. It was so cold that after being on the road for around two hours Jack looked at the outside temperate gauge which was at -9°F. and then said to me, “It’s really warming up.”  When we started out it was -17°F. New Year’s Day
