Shrimp on a Stick for Valentine's Day
by AndiatBettyCrocker  2/3/2009 1:06:00 PM

It’s nearly Valentine’s Day and time to start shopping for heart-shaped candies, cookware, dishes and well... anything. Here is a great place to go for that!

And here’s an idea for some cute appetizers to share with your sweetheart—Shrimp on a Stick. They are so easy to make, you don't need a recipe for them.

We tested out this idea on New Year’s Eve. Jack put two medium to large shrimp on a short wooden skewer (see how he "hugged" two together on each skewer in the photo above) and then put them on a sprayed foil-lined jelly-roll pan. I brushed them with a purchased ginger stir-fry sauce. Then we broiled them until they were opaque which took around 5 minutes; turning only once. Even easier, just sauté them for 3 minutes per side in a nonstick skillet. Sweet!

Those look beautiful. Where did you get those thicker skewers? They look more substantial than the flimsy ones I usually get at the store.

jillbcooks... Look for wooden skewers instead of bamboo skewers. I got mine from a butcher in the meat department of my local supermarket. I have also found them online.
