Today at sundown Rosh Hashanah begins. The High Holidays, which include Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur, are a busy time for people, since the holidays are a week apart, and for the most observant people, there are prohibitions on doing work—which includes cooking. Mix in Labor Day and Back-to-School, and time is really at a premium. This year I have been looking for a perfect challah recipe for a bread machine. Leave it to Betty, but Bread Machine Challah makes a very nice dough. I took the advice from the site and made my dough ahead and froze it. I put it in the fridge yesterday to thaw out, so this afternoon, I will put it to the test and bake the loaves off. I am hoping to make a plain, round braided loaf and a chocolate chip loaf for our young guests.
I’ve got to get the table set! Will post pics of my challot later!
Update:the thawed dough...beautiful and easy to work with
