New Year’s Resolution: Use What I’ve Got
by jillbcooks  12/30/2009 8:18:00 AM

I admit that I own a lot of kitchen gear.  Being a food enthusiast and cookbook writer, I tend to get gifts that have a connection to food.  While some of my gear—like my slow cooker—gets regular use, much of it sits packed away.  One of my goals this year is to bring value to the things I already own by using them regularly.  I plan to dust off and use:

I look forward to a new year filled with great cooking and eating.  What are your plans and goals for cooking in the new year?  Have you got a favorite kitchen gadget or appliance?

If I have to dedicate space for an appliance I don't use daily, these days it's my rice cooker that makes the top of the list. While I used to have a bread maker, I found that with the abundance and availability of wonderful bread at the grocery store, there was very little need to expend time and energy making it. The rice cooker on the other hand, can really serve double duty as both an appliance to make rice as well as meals (steaming and cooking in the steamer insert while the rice cooks). I find it invaluable in 2009. I wonder years from now, what will take its place?

My News Years Resolution, is to "Not Make any New Years Resolutions"!!!!, Hahaha. The ideal of using you kitchen gadgets that you have is a good one. I have a bread maker, that I've never used, I'am going to try a few of those recipes. Thanks and good luck, Granna2
