Who doesn’t like a good bake sale where you can buy delicious homemade cookies, bars, breads, and caramel rolls? Oh those caramel rolls—hot out of the oven with ooey, gooey caramel and pecan halves.

This morning, members of our department brought in treats they baked last night to sell to other employees who work at the headquarters building of General Mills in Minneapolis. This was our seventh bake sale to earn money for the Second Harvest Heartland Food Shelves.
Ann and Kristen came in early to help with the setting up our tables and make signs. Kristen made crisp cereal bars with browned butter and crisp bacon. She cut them into lilttle cubes and packed six tiny cubes into small plastic bags. And yes, I bought a bag and devoured three of them immediatley. I have three left for today and I don't think that I'll offer to share them. Ann brought in two pans of bars—Lemon Creme Bars and Layered Peanut Butter Bars.
They placed baked items on carts and rolled then over to the tables where we displayed the baked items that we all brought in. The table was strategically located so other employees would pass right by it on their way to the elevators.

Here is our table, filled with baskets of baked items.

Kathy made mini loaves of banana bread. I donated three pans of cereal bars and two pans of Ultimate Turtle Brownies. (These decadent brownies are like the ones you can buy in coffee shops.)

Phil brought in these treats. His wife, Sue, baked the lemon bars and made-from-scratch brownies. Phil baked the Oatmeal Cranberry White Chocolate Chunk Cookies. Phil's daughter wrapped up the "three-layer pacakges.

Just after lunch time, the proceeds in our donations box were counted.

Renae (who organizes our efforts and motivates all of us to bake something) just told me that we earned $1,075.00. This is an easy and satisfying way for us to give back to our community. Thanks Renae, for making us all look good and feel great too! You rock!!
