Easy-To-Make French Food—Oh là là!
by AndiatBettyCrocker  8/27/2009 10:08:00 AM

Even though Julia’s book, Mastering the Art of French Cooking is topping the best-seller list, a mere 48 years after it was first published, not everyone wants to take the time to make authentic French food.

There are lots of simplified French recipes on bettycrocker.com. Just for the fun of it, we decided to test some for lunch and put them together in a couple of menus for you, thinking you might want to combine dinner and THE movie (Julie & Julia) with friends.

The first is a French Appetizer-Party menu.

Click on the recipe titles (below) to see the recipes:
Chicken Terrine

Cheese Straw Twists
Camembert with Balsamic Bell Peppers

Here is an Easy French Dinner menueasy because this Slow Cooker Beefy French Onion Soup cooks in a slow-cooker all day long. The soup is just a little sweet for me and so the next time I make it, I'll substitute another can of the beef consommé for the 1 cup of apple juice. The sodium level will be higher but I don't mind because I don't make this soup very often.

This Roquefort and Toasted Walnut Salad is a perfect accompaniment to the soup.

Let’s not forget the dessert. May I recommend some Strawberry-Banana Crepes?
